Being a mom is the hardest, yet most rewarding thing I’ve ever done. I am blessed to be the mother of two amazing boys and doubly blessed that I was able to be a full-time stay at home mom to them for the last 14 years. Recently though, I realized I was ready to dip my toe back into the workforce. A lot had changed since I had left and it was exciting to think about, but also extremely daunting. Where do I begin? How do I compete with younger candidates with more recent experience? How will my kids adjust to me not being home all the time? Interviewing?…no thanks. You got this, I reminded myself daily.
Once I got out there, I realized I had value to offer and I felt the internal shift from fear to excitement. Soon, I found a role that was absolutely perfect for me! I’m still learning how to balance it all and there are times that I fail but I don’t put my focus there, instead I remind myself how much I have grown and of all the successes I have had. I’ve also realized that being a full-time mom and a full-time employee is the new “hardest, yet most rewarding thing I’ve ever done”.
