Growing up and learning to live with panic disorder and depression was a challenge, to say the least. I learned to persist despite the panic attacks all through high school and college- and even graduated with honors. I never imagined things would get even worse after graduating from college, but they did. And yet, I still persisted. There was a full month after graduating that I thought I was losing my mind, but, when things get hard beyond belief you can either crumble or you can fight back- I decided to fight back. With the help of my therapist, medication, my family, and learning my love for gardening, I was able to overcome the constant panic attacks and depression. Mental health can be such a taboo topic to discuss, but by writing this, I hope people can grow more accustomed to it- because it is so important. There are millions of people in the US alone who suffer from mental health issues- so why are we afraid to talk about it and seek help? I just want anyone else struggling to know that things can get better if you keep persisting. Don’t give up and never be afraid to ask for help.
